charlotte lamb's abduction(so not PC)
By Happy Reader
From the back cover:
She needed time-and that was running out.

After two years' separation from Gabriel, her husband, Marisa still didn't think she was ready to cope with being his wife. His wealthy life-style had intimidated her. His snobish friends had made her feel like a poor nobody.

But some things had changed in two years. Marisa had had to raise Jamie, their baby, by herself, and that had given her new confidence and shown her the meaning of true love.

Then Jamie was abducted, and she thought she would die. Especially since it brought Gabriel back into her life.

My take:

Overall, this book was very good. I was very afraid that it would be to sad for me to finish. The heroine, Marisa was 19 to Gabriel's 34 when they married. She was a very shy young woman and felt bullied by Gabriel in that he demanded that they marry before they really knew one another. She left Gabriel after he SLAPED her one night in the heat of an argument.

Now I know this book was written in the early 80's but my God. This book is so not PC. He also calls her the B*tc.h a few times.

Even with all of that^^^ I would still argue that this is a good book.

This book sounded like it actually took place in a two week period. Yes she was young, 19 to his 34. So that is her excuse for immaturity. But as i am reading the book I have to keep reminding myself that this book was written back in the early 80's. (1981) and Charlotte Lamb and Sally Wentworth both seem to like their H's who were a bit of a savage. That being said the H is a brute and the h is a mouse. The most common set up in these older Harlequin Romance Books. What is it with the 17, 18 or 19 YO wanting to marry a 35 + older guys??????? To each his own. But this particular book did NOTHING for me. Between him hitting her, although he felt bad about it, him calling her a Bitch through out the book, even though he is joking half the time, and the age thing. I can not imagine what a 34 YO has in common with a 19 YO. Not to mention on the night before she leaves him she reads about him out with an old flame...... ( you never know what happened there.. the h never mention it to the H that she knew. WHAT DID HAPPEN CHARLOTTE LAMB?? We need closure) Then the book just ends...... I was actually reading it and wondered if I lost several pages in the book! that was how abrupt the book ended. I was like WTH???!!! TERRIBLE ENDING. I would TOTALLY skip this book, Charlotte Lamb has done so much better.
