My companion to life coaching sessions

I absolutely am in love with this journal. I have always been the type of person who loves the idea of journaling, but then never follows through after a few weeks. I think what makes it psychologically so easy with this journal is that you only really need to do one page a day, and the limited space per prompt makes "writing down your life" much less intimidating. The quotes are consistently thought and inspection-provoking and funny. I currently have a life coach who is helping me work through long-term depression and relationship issues, and I truly believe that my sessions are more effective because of this journal.

I love that at the bottom of each journal page, there are the three cups you can tick: full, half-full, and crumpled up and empty. It's a nice way of keeping track when and possibly why I feel defeated and incapable of confidently facing the day.

The colors are beautiful on each page, and the page is heavy stock and feels high quality. Love, love, love.

This whole journal just makes me laugh. And yet, it is full of truths. I have given it for gifts, (to the right people), and it is always a hit.

Great for your insominac friend

Just gave this as a Christmas gift to an insomniac friend, and she loves it! It's a sleep journal with interesting quotes on each page. Each page has the quote on one side, and a blank lined page on the other for jotting down thoughts. I was considering whether to get this or the smaller version, but after receiving this in the mail I'm glad I opted for the larger full sized version. If you're afraid you won't fill up a page of material - don't worry, the lines are fairly well spaced and you WILL be able to fill out the page before you know it.

The book is great, but opt for the movie!

This is the short story version of the musical play and the movie. It's the original form of the story. Well-written, touching, provacative, interesting and fun. I love the movie version (with Olivia de Haviland, Rosano Brazzi, George Hamilton and Yvette Mimieux) which is almost word for word like the short story but with the added benefit of being shot on locaton in gorgeous Italy! Also loved the soundtrack.Opt for the movie version or try both!.

This is a clever novella, with a clever title, that is the right length for what it has to say. There is exactly the correct amount of descriptive language, characterization and story-line to make for a very enjoyable read. The bit of humor, namely the confusion about age, is unexpected and delightful.

How nice for the author to have this novella find its way onto Broadway quite some time after it was written.

surprisingly helpful

I only bought this because it was one of two books required for my Applied Social Psychology course. Nothing makes you feel cooler than actually wanting to read a text that is essentially just different professionals telling what their job is and duties they have. But it was really interesting, seeing what REAL people with psychology degrees can do with their college education, what level you need for different fields of psychology and an honest, personal perspective on the job. Each chapter is a different area, written by one or several professionals and their experiences in their own education and in the application of their knowledge in the field. I would recommend this to others that are in love with psychology, but not sure where to focus that love (and also graduating soon/need to figure out what to do with your life).

Every basic path you can take!

I have been thinking about going back to uni to study psychology and since there are so many fields, I decided to buy this book to see which field would best suit me or be most interesting.
Many people major in psychology these days but this book is definately for those who are looking to obtain a MA/MS or higher, working as 'psychologists'.
I read a review saying how it was not in-depth enough and that it lacked in details but how much of one profession can ever be squeezed into a book, yet alone most of the career paths in psychology.
It covers all the basic areas and environment where a psychologist can work and each chapter is written by a psychologist working in that setting. It definately gives you an idea of what it's basically like to be working in that particular field, highlighting most expectations that you are likely to come across.
It can get a little confusing after reading five different chapters but if you're looking to see which profession in psychology might suit you or like best, then this book is the way to go.
