About the Author
Dr. Newton is currently the Director of the Neuro-Oncology Program at the Wallace Kettering Neuroscience Institute, Kettering Medical Center, and Kettering Cancer Center. He recently retired as a Professor of Neurology, Neurosurgery, & Oncology at the Wexner Medical Center at Ohio State University and the James Cancer Hospital, and was the holder of the Esther Dardinger Endowed Chair in Neuro-Oncology. He trained in Neuro-Oncology with Drs. Jerome Posner and William Shapiro at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, and since then has been in academic Neuro-Oncology for over 20 years. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and is the Chief Editor or Co-Editor of seven textbooks in the field of Neurology and Neuro-Oncology. In addition, he has been listed as a Best Doctor (Neurology) and Top Doctor for Cancer (Neuro-Oncology) for the past 15 years.

About the Author
A former criminal lawyer and psychotherapist, Jeff Brown is the author of Soulshaping: A Journey of Self-Creation, and Ascending with Both Feet on the Ground. Need an inspirational, easy to read, digestable bit of juicy daily insight wrapped into brilliance? This is YOUR book. If you don't have time to read the book from finish to end, just take it in small pieces, at your will. If you get absorbed in it and read it from end to end, you'll probably want to read it over and over again. I can say this from personal experience! This is a must-own book for your night stand. An Excellent First Cookbook

My 8 year old periodically expresses interest in cooking, and we've looked at many kids' cookbooks but none of them every really inspired us to buy. But we were in a bookstore over the weekend and flipped through this book, and both really liked the unique approach. This book is organized into lessons and while there are many recipes (over 30) the focus of the book is on teaching kids basic food preparation and cooking skills. The age recommendation is 8 and up; though this could be easily read by a younger child, I found that I want to supervise when knives and graters are involved.

How to Cook is written in very clear language which my child found easy to understand. Tonight we made the cheese straws and minestrone soup which came out great. We are looking forward to working our way through the rest of the lessons- it's going to be a fun way for us to spend time together. And I feel cooking is a really important life skill, so I'm glad she has this guide to teach her the basics.

This is a great product and so very versatile! It worked well on every screen I had and even seemed to cut down on a fingerprints and smudges. It also should last a good long while since a little bit goes a long way.

Revived my excitement, but smelt like a wet dog in places.

Continuing with my journey to revisit the Twilight saga story again in graphic novel form, New Moon Part 1 gave me a lonely, fragile, yet funny version of Bella.

The illustrations were great, but lacked the climatic effect that the two Twilight volumes did. Most of the graphics were black and white with the exception of two or three short scenes. This volume lacked to capture the tone as effectively as I have come to expect. After Bella discovers Edward has left, I wanted to see her state of mind reflected more in the artwork, but this aspect of the story was glossed over. For something that impacted me so heavily in the novel and film versions, I was left feeling let down. The black and white drawn in grey shades, when I’d have liked it to be represented more visually desperate than a white-wash treatment.

With that said, I still liked the darkness – the more sinister aspects of the storyline: the wolves, Laurent, Victoria. While the movies only hinted at this, in the novel it was meant to make you feel uncomfortable, or in the least, shiver. The artwork here captures the impact more in the tone of the novel, and I enjoyed getting more tension for Bella than I had from the film franchise.

Though, my favourite pages from this volume would have to be the end pages, which I feel really captured the soul of the first half of New Moon – desolate, haunting and dark.

So while I appreciated the artwork, the story felt flat. Admittedly there was a lot of detail in there that I did not expect, but there was something about it that failed to punch in its weight class. Possibly because some of my expectations went unmet.

Really looking forward to Volume 2 later this year. And upon searching the internet, it doesn’t appear Young Kim is continuing with the series. Sad. I’d really like to see where her illustrations could have taken the saga.

Just as beautiful as the first two. I can't stress enough how much you need these graphic novels. If you are viewing the page, just buy it. They are too great to not have. Sitting here waiting for New Moon vol, 2 to come out.

Melodrama much ado about nothing.

Curiosity can be a dangerous thing. But did I listen ten years ago? Oh, of course not. Time-machine to the present and why on earth did I re-read this? Even my inner 12-year old was screaming at me "No!! not again." Between the melodrama, Bella's martyr complex (no character is allowed to suffer as much as Bella because she's suffering more than everyone because she's suffering for everyone.) The adjective overuse. One isn't allowed to merely look at another person. The looks are either triumphal,exultant, glorious, or smoldering, the list goes on. (also used to described eyes and smiles.) Plot? alas, look elsewhere. There are some excellent reading choices out there, I just wasn't all that delighted w/ this one. Enjoy!

Bud Powell Collection

A beautiful book with 9 outstanding pieces transcribed to Bud Powell's artistry. I purchased this set of music for Parisian Thoroughfare, but I quickly realized all the other pieces are spectacular in their transcription, plus 'Tempus Fugit' was completely new to me and sounds great in this set. If you like Bud Powell (who in jazzland doesn't) then you need this book in your collection.

It is important to note that the pieces in this book are very thorough and better transcribed than in the 'Bud Powell Mostly Bud, Original Voicings' book by Evan Sarzin. That is a good book, however, I recommend this book first, and purchased it because of disappointment with Sarzin's transcription of Parisian Thoroughfare.

The Hal Leonard book is definitely NOT fake book scores. Excessive ledger lines are avoided and the scores are very easy to read.
