Bonds of Blood and Honor

Jelena is a fiery castanic warrior guarding a lonely pass at the frontlines of a war for the survival of her world. She goes to the rescue of Elleon, a high elf officer, and fights at his side to defeat their enemies.

Elleon orders Jelena to accompany him on his mission to enemy territory. Together they penetrate the twisted domain of the argons—the mechanized invaders who threaten to destroy all life—and establish mutual loyalty and fierce rivalry as they battle argon foes and reanimated horrors to discover the truth at the heart of the invasion threatening their existence.

But Jelena is a loner, and she likes it that way. When their task is done, will they go their separate ways? Or will the mutual respect and attraction between them lead toward a new future together?

Set in the world of the next-generation online role-playing game TERA™, “Fire and Ice” combines the thrill of battle with the epic clash of two potent personalities in a landscape of total annihilation.

TERA Fire and Ice Review
By Haynes Z
The story itself looks like an excerpt from Leander's brother in the story line of TERA. As a fan of the game series I enjoyed being able to recognize the words and ways of the game and it fit well into the story. The author did a good job conveying the world as the denizens themselves would see it.
The story itself did well in showing the lore and using what we know to spin a tale of might and magic without being over the top and reducing the hero and heroine into bland, dull, super-beings that could do anything they pleased. It fit in well with the series and is definitely worth the read for any fans. The characters were well-explained, even with the quick introduction and limited space the author had to work with.
While it's worth taking a look at for anyone willing to read it, this is not a Jack London or Mark Danielewski book. There are little 'blurbs' in the writing that could use some work ("She backflipped... came up in a guard position"), and repeated words that seem to hurry the scene along rather than transition from one point to another. The only time I frowned was when (I'm not spoiling anything) a physical condition didn't seem to alter the flow of action at all, which in reality, would have drastically affected the character in question once you learn about it.
In short the characters aren't bad, the action is present and a bit of story for anyone interested in the lore. While it has drawbacks it's a good read for anyone familiar with the franchise and wants a brief glimpse into the world of TERA. Don't take my word for it, it was well worth the Washington to pass time.

An enjoyable action-oriented story
By Thomas Kurtz
In terms of someone new to the game, this read was more about observing the chemistry between two strangers with a healthy dose of stealthy action stirred in for good measure. But with an eye toward the higher levels of TERA, to understand how the Argon work is a useful insight toward someone who enjoys the story and likes to roleplay in MMOs.

A Lil' Nugget of Character Development!
By Kaitlyn
To put it simply; I like it.

I've been playing Tera on-and-off for a while now, and knew that there were E-Books, and thought I'd throw the author and Enmasse another little chunk of my soul to see how it turned out.

Fire and Ice is basically the story of how Elleon Kubel, and Jelena, two main npc's from the games main story, meet and become comrades. It was interesting to see the two interact with each other, and have their hinted-at personalities in-game expanded upon. It certainly has added an extra layer of depth when I find myself grinding off to reach the top-levels and I run into either of them.

The only two draw-backs I had with this title was that it was... A little short. I know it was meant to be, but I couldn't help but let out a sad "awww" when it ended. Ah, I'll merely have to hope for more. Who knows, maybe I'll find out more about Leander in the next one?
The second draw-back, also not really a problem so much as it is me being picky; I wouldn't be able to recommend it to anyone outside of the Tera fandom. The book is heavily steeped in in-game lore, which is very refreshing considering how wonky the lore CAN be, and how well it worked in the series. Anyone who doesn't play would be lost in the dust, which makes me feel like MacPherson could have, and should have had more personal liberties in adapting the story to make it a little bit different from the game.

But all in all, I was pleased with what I got.
I loved how Elleon, though he could be formal, had personality, and kept his characteristically hyperactive traits. I loved How sassy Jelena was, and how the two meshed together, despite their very obvious rank-difference.

If you play Tera, and you want to know about EITHER of them; then yes. This little nugget o'character development would be well-worth the read.
